Does Your Product or Service Need a Video for Advertisement?

You've seen them everywhere. Ads with catchy jingles that you can't get out of your head, emotional stories that make you tear up, or even just a quick clip that makes you laugh. We're talking, of course, about commercials. But with the increased popularity of streaming services and the ever-shrinking attention spans of consumers, you might be wondering: are commercials still worth making? The answer is... maybe. It all depends on your product or service.


Types of Products and Services That Benefit from Commercials


There are some products and services for which commercials are absolutely essential. For example, if you're selling a new type of toothbrush that has unique features, it's going to be very difficult to explain those features in a short ad. A commercial allows you to show, rather than tell, potential customers what your product can do. Likewise, if you're selling a service that is difficult to understand or visualize (like insurance), a commercial can be very helpful in explaining what you do and how it can benefit consumers.





On the other hand, there are some products and services for which commercials may not be the best use of your time and resources. For example, if you have a relatively simple product that people are already familiar with (like laundry detergent), a commercial might not be necessary. In this case, a print or digital ad may be sufficient. Alternatively, if you have a niche product or service that appeals to a small group of people (like accounting software for small businesses), you may be better off targeting your advertising to specific publications or websites that your target audience is likely to visit.


When it comes to deciding whether or not to create a commercial for your product or service, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. It all depends on what you're selling and who your target audience is. However, if you're unsure whether or not a commercial is right for you, we recommend err on the side of caution and go ahead with it—you may be surprised at how well it performs!
